Occupational medicine focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses. The goal is to restore health and ensure a safe return to the workplace.

Our Approach

The Workplace, located at UAB Hospital-Highlands in Birmingham, provides care for non-emergency on-the-job injuries as well as occupational therapy and physical rehabilitation services. Our providers offer comprehensive care for injured workers, including functional evaluations, job-specific assessments, medical treatment, and collaboration with employers and case managers.

What to Expect

Services include pre-employment screenings, return-to-work evaluations, and injury care. Our team prioritizes functional recovery, helping patients meet both physical and job-specific demands — including communication abilities. Other services include:
