Orthopaedic Conditions

Major orthopaedic health events — such as joint replacement, advanced arthritis, or serious injury — can affect your movement, ability to perform daily tasks, and mental well-being. Comprehensive rehabilitation can help you rebuild strength, manage pain, and return to everyday activities with greater independence.

We personalize an intensive inpatient rehabilitation program to help you regain function and independence. A physician-led multidisciplinary team will support your recovery in areas such as strength, mobility, pain management, daily activities, and social and mental well-being. We will also provide and adjust any bracing, orthotics, or equipment that supports your progress.

Team Approach

Your team may include the following members, working collaboratively to support your recovery:

  • Physiatrist – A doctor specializing in rehabilitation medicine who leads your care and helps manage pain, mobility, and other ongoing medical needs
  • Rehabilitation nurse – Educates patients and families about self-care, pain management, and medical issues
  • Physical therapist (PT) – Provides therapy to improve physical function, mobility, balance, and strength
  • Occupational therapist (OT) – Provides therapy focused on self-care and daily independence, including dressing, bathing, and toileting
  • Psychologist – Provides support for emotional well-being and coping strategies
  • Case manager – Coordinates discharge planning and connects patients with community resources
  • Dietitian – Evaluates and optimizes nutritional needs to support recovery
  • Recreation therapist – Identifies and facilitates activities to promote overall health and well-being
  • Prosthetist/orthotist – Provides custom devices, such as orthotics or bracing, to improve mobility and function
